Three things giving us a dose of gardening joy
6th May 2022
It’s National Gardening Week and it’s all about getting your dose of gardening joy – be sure check out how the RHS are spreading garden joy on their website.
To mark the occasion, we’re sharing three things that have brought us gardening joy this week.
Gardening at any age
Nothing makes us happier than seeing our tools in use on gardening projects, however big or small the task. We know that every tool tells a story, and it really makes our day when you tag us in your gardening photos or send them to us via email. So we were delighted to receive this photo from an 80-year-old gardening enthusiast featuring our Tipper Cart and a stunning range of flowers.
At the other end of the spectrum, we were recently sent some fantastic photos of children getting stuck into some planting with our Young Gardener range - shared with us on twitter.
It’s fantastic to see how gardening brings joy and benefits to all ages.
Supporting our community
We’ve teamed up with a local charity, Youth Options, which is celebrating National Gardening Week with the launch of a guide to getting outdoors and making the most of nature. Check out the guide here – it’s jam-packed full of inspiration on what to grow and easy ways to attract wildlife to your garden. The guide is already proving popular with the local community and we’re so proud to be part of this special project.
Gardening’s still cool
Back in 2021, we surveyed the nation’s 18–34 year olds and found that over 80% of them consider gardening to be “cool”. In fact, it was so popular that more than half of young people said they would rather go to a garden centre than a nightclub. Now that nightclubs are truly back, we wondered if things had changed.
For a bit of fun, we polled our followers and found that gardening still came out on top. More than three quarters of you preferred the garden centre over the club!
Happy National Gardening Week
Share what’s bringing you a dose of gardening joy on social media by using #NationalGardeningWeek. And keep on tagging Draper in your project photos – we love to see them!
