International Day of Charity at Draper Tools

The 5th September is the UN’s International Day of Charity, a day designed to mobilise people all around the world to help others through volunteering and philanthropic activities. Here at Draper Tools, we marked the occasion with a day of support for an incredible local charity, Trinity Winchester.

Supporting the local community

Trinity is a Winchester-based charity which addresses the effects of homelessness and vulnerability through specialist practical and emotional support, and proactive prevention, empowering positive change. The charity helps local people who are vulnerable to the effects of homelessness, addiction, physical and mental ill health, poverty, social isolation and domestic abuse. They aim to offer solutions, hope, choice and control.

Trinity’s annual ‘Big Sleep Out’ event is well known in the local area as a fantastic fundraiser, which Draper regularly supports with the supply and recycling of card and donations for the event goody bags.

Team Draper Volunteer in the Trinity Kitchen

In the weeks running up to International Day of Charity, the Draper head office team had been collecting food to donate to Trinity, with a trolley filling up with cans, pasta, rice, tea, coffee and other essentials for the charity.

A team of volunteers headed to Trinity on 5th September to drop off all the food collected and take a turn in the Trinity kitchen cooking the lunch for the day. Our volunteers pitched in and helped prepare a delicious chilli to be enjoyed by everyone.

Pizza Themed Fundraising for Trinity

By coincidence, the 5th September was also National Cheese Pizza Day, which inspired the Draper team’s fundraising plans for the day. A pizza themed bake off was held at Draper’s head office, with both sweet and savoury pizzas cooked up and judged, before the slices were sold in aid of Trinity.

Thank you and well done

A huge thank you to our volunteers who stepped up to cook for Trinity, and to everyone who donated food, made a pizza or simply bought a slice – you’ve all helped make a difference to a local charity, and had fun in the process.
